Terms of Use

Section 101 is an early-stage independent fan project. These terms are starter text written in plain language, drafted to accurately describe how the app actually works — they are not legal advice and have not yet been reviewed by a licensed attorney.
Using the app
Section 101 is free to use for personal, non-commercial purposes. You need an account to post games, claim Bucket List Finds, or add custom venues. You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything done through your account.
Age requirement
You must be 13 or older to use Section 101. When you create an account, you will be asked to affirmatively confirm that you meet this age requirement before the account is created — this confirmation is a condition of signup, not just a statement in these terms. Providing false information about your age to create an account is itself a violation of these terms and grounds for immediate account termination.
Your content
Your game logs, notes, and photos stay yours — you retain all ownership rights to what you post. By uploading content, you grant Section 101 a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, and display that content solely for the purposes of: operating the app and showing your content back to you, running it through the automated and human moderation process described in our Privacy Policy, and — for any post you choose to share to the public Feed — displaying it to other Section 101 users. This license ends when you delete the specific content or your account, except for copies that may briefly persist in backups or that we're required to retain for legal or safety reasons (for example, content preserved under a CyberTipline report). We do not sell your content, license it to third parties for their own use, or use it to train AI models. Do not upload content you don't have the rights to, or anything unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually exploitative of a minor, or invasive of someone's privacy. We may remove content, hold points, or suspend or terminate accounts that break these rules, with or without notice.
Copyright — DMCA notice and takedown
If you believe content on Section 101 infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent at info@section101app.com including: (1) a physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner or someone authorized to act on their behalf; (2) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; (3) identification of the material claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to let us locate it; (4) your contact information; (5) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; and (6) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and you're authorized to act for the copyright owner. On receiving a valid notice, we will remove or disable access to the material and notify the user who posted it. A user who believes their content was removed in error may submit a counter-notice with comparable required elements; if a valid counter-notice is received we may restore the content unless the original complainant files a court action. We may terminate accounts of users determined to be repeat infringers.
Points, Verified status, and badges
Points, the Verified stat, and badges are for fun and carry no monetary value, cannot be purchased, sold, or transferred, and don't entitle you to any prize. We verify same-day logs using your device's location and backfilled logs using a ticket stub photo you upload; a log with neither still saves for your own record but doesn't earn points. We may adjust, withhold, or remove points or badges we determine were earned through false or misleading submissions.
Bucket List Finds
Bucket List Finds are validated using a combination of your device's location and a photo you submit. We don't guarantee that automated photo review can confirm you're at the exact spot claimed — location is the primary check. A find flagged for review still counts while a human moderator takes a look; we may revoke a claim we determine was submitted in bad faith.
Custom venues
If you add a venue manually, we may check it against our existing database, ask you to confirm or use an existing match instead, and review new entries before or after they're created. We may edit, merge, or remove a custom venue at our discretion.
No affiliation
Section 101 is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NFL, MLB, NBA, NHL, WNBA, MLS, Minor League Baseball, the PGA/golf major championships, NASCAR, college athletic programs, or any team, venue, or league. Team, league, and venue names are used descriptively to identify the games and events you attend. No official logos or marks are used.
Third-party links and affiliate disclosure
Material connection disclosure: Venue pages include links to ticketing, hotel, flight, dining, and pro shop sites. Many of these are affiliate links — Section 101 has a paid partnership with the operators of these sites and earns a commission if you make a purchase or booking after clicking through, at no extra cost to you. This is a material connection under FTC guidelines, and we're disclosing it clearly here as well as at the point of the link itself: pages with affiliate links show an in-app notice ("Some links are affiliate links — booking through them keeps Section 101 running") next to the relevant links. Our recommendations and the venue/event information we display are not influenced by which partner pays the highest commission — the same event, hotel, or venue data is shown regardless of affiliate relationship. We do not control those third-party sites, their prices, their availability, their terms, or their privacy practices.
Accuracy and availability
Venue details, capacities, schedules, and dates are compiled from public sources and may be incomplete, delayed, or out of date — always confirm details directly with the venue or ticketing source before making plans. The app is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind, and may change, break, or go offline without notice.
Reporting and enforcement
If you see content that violates these terms, you can report it in the app. We review reported content and may take action including removing content, holding points, or suspending or terminating the account responsible. We may cooperate with law enforcement and legal process as required by law.
Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold Section 101 harmless from any claim, damages, liability, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: content you post to the app, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third party's rights (including intellectual property or privacy rights). This obligation doesn't apply to claims arising from our own violation of these terms or applicable law.
